Lucky and Hopeful
I am thoroughly stoked. So we're here in California trying to get all settled and whatnot, and the unbelievable happened. I learned that TriWest (Tricare military medical insurance for the Pacific) accepts doctors from Stanford. Yep...Stanford.
I'll say it again...
STANFORD HOSPITAL!!!
How cool is that? After, oh, 15 years of crappy Navy docs, me and my family are going to be seen by Stanford docs, for free. Family Practice, Urologist, Nephrologist, Ortho (for my back, which I almost never talk about)...all Stanford docs who don't just do a job every day. These guys and gals are passionate about medicine and research. It was like striking gold each time specific doctors popped up as a YES on the TriWest site. I thought Tricare would have been too cheap to go with these guys. Stanford is about 11 miles south of here, but those docs are affiliated with hospitals further up the peninsula, so if I need acute care, I'm good.
I can't wait to be seen! I'm also excited about going back into physical therapy, because the best of the best is out here, and I know I'll find a program that suits my needs.
For the first time in a long time, I'm looking forward to the future instead of dreading it!
