Rough 2 weeks

Written as “Kidney Girl” on the original Cystinuria Blog · 1 min read

I've been quiet these past couple of weeks, but for a good reason...in my head anyway. I've been in terrible pain over the past couple weeks, bilaterally. Sometimes the pain was in one or the other, sometimes both at the same time. It was bad enough to take my breath away.

Today, was a great day. I woke up in a bit of pain, but by the time I dropped my kids off at school, I was feeling good enough to go surfing! My husband tried to get me to go last Friday, but the pain was so bad I had to decline. The waves were perfect that day too. Thankfully, the waves were perfect again today - well worth the wait. I was able to stay in the water for an hour and a half before I started getting chilly. I still feel great; relatively. :)

I'm due for an ultrasound and appt with my urologist in April, but I was beginning to think I wouldn't make it that long without a trip to the OR. Now, things are looking up. Hopefully the thiola will keep doing its job.

Anyway, the reason I was keeping quiet had to do with me getting approved to go to Japan. It's a long story, one I still have to type up, but I will. Soon. It's emotionally exhausting to think about, and things are finally starting to settle down. I want to make sure I'm in a good place emotionally before I start going off about this. This is an important story that other military wives need to hear about, no matter what they or their kids are sick with, so I'll be sure to get it up soon. :)
