New question about twisting.

Written as “Kidney Girl” on the original Cystinuria Blog · 1 min read

In a recent Google query, someone asked if it hurts to twist from side to side if you have a stone.

Not always, but YES it can hurt. For me, it mostly hurts when my kidneys themselves are angry. Twisting will set off the pain, and it will go from like 0 to 7 instantly. When I straighten up, it will throb once or twice, but it goes away. This happens to me often, usually right before they are big enough to warrant an OR trip.

As far as stones in the ureter, sometimes movement can make them budge, so yes, that can hurt too. I've had that happen to me once or twice, when the stone was pretty low in my ureter.
